Customer Question
Hey guys I'm about to...
Hey guys I'm about to buy a used car and I was hoping for a little advice. This is probably a 2 part question:1) I've very recently been leaning towards purchasing a used rental car. The reason being is that a lot of my family and friends have done this and have had great experiences. They all come with complete maintenance records. Although I know many people abuse rentals, my logic is that you never know how a previous owner drove the car during their ownership. What are your thoughts on purchasing former rentals?2) I'm deciding between a 2010 toyota camry and a 2010 toyota camry hybrid. How do you think the Hybrids will hold up in 10 years? Will I be better off getting a standard for long term use ( I want to pass this off to my kid)

What are your thoughts on purchasing former rentals?

I think that they are a great way to purchase a car while avoiding a big loss on purchasing a new car. Just be sure to get the maintenance records and try to get the lowest mileage one available.

I'm deciding between a 2010 Toyota camry and a 2010 toyota camry hybrid. How do you think the Hybrids will hold up in 10 years? Will I be better off getting a standard for long term use ( I want to pass this off to my kid)

Me personally, I would go with the non Hybrid. Not that they are showing any problems but we always see things 3-4 years after they are made and with the 1st and 2nd generation Prius, the repairs can be very expensive. Like in the $3,000-6,000 range depending on what is needed. In other words the savings in gas get eaten up by the repair costs later when the car gets older.

Here is an interesting article...
