Case details: I use an HP Elitebook. At work I am trying to connect to a different network via VPN but the LAN connection is not working. I can access the web using a T-mobile device but not the VPN.
There a few things you could do:
1. Check your LAN settings: Click the Start button, click Settings and then Network Connection. Then disable the wireless connection and try to connect with the VPN after checking that the Ethernet cable is plugged in. If you still can’t connect, try connecting using a wireless connection. If you are able to do so, it would indicate that there is something wrong with your LAN adapter or firewall.
2. Check IP address: Go back to Network Settings, choose your local area connection by right clicking, go to Properties and scroll down to "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)". Click on Properties and check if "Obtain an IP address automatically" has been selected.
3. If you are still unable to connect to the VPN, you need to contact the IT department. Since T-mobile devices use a T-mobile network and not your office network, there could be a policy setup on the router which is preventing you from accessing the VPN. Once they enable you to connect, you shouldn’t have a problem doing so.
When I use my company’s VPN network, I get the following response: Any connect was unable to establish a connection to the specified secure gateway. Please try again. Another pop up says: The VPN client was unable to set up IP filtering. A VPN connection will not be established. What should I do to fix this?
