Stop Sign Violation

What is a stop sign violation?

When a person is operating a motor vehicle and comes to a stop sign and does not fully stop or comes to a similar traffic stop and does not stop, then the person can receive a stop sign violation. Stop sign violations will fall under whatever laws of the state that they are in. In most states, they use stop signs to show when a person needs to stop at an intersection.

If a person receives a stop sign violation, but they wrote the wrong intersection down and the person believes that they indeed did stop, should the person pay the fine or fight the ticket?

If the person is innocent and did indeed stop at the stop sign, then the person would need to go to trial and fight the ticket. When the trial comes up, the person would need to ask the officer if any of the police vehicles had cameras and if the vehicles did have cameras, if the officers caught the alleged violation on camera.

If a person was to receive a stop sign violation, how would they take care of the violation to avoid receiving points on his/her license?

The person would need to see if the state that they are in would allow them to take a defensive driving course so that the points would not be placed against his/her license. The person may want to think about retaining a traffic lawyer to fight the ticket for them, if they want to avoid the points that would be placed against the person’s license.

If a person thinks that they made a reasonable stop at a stop sign, how would they fight the stop sign violation?

The person would want to make sure that what they considered to be a reasonable stop is in fact a full stop at a stop sign. By law, the person would have had to come to a full and complete stop at the stop sign and if they did not come to a full and complete stop, then they would be guilty of a stop sign violation. If the person feels that they are innocent, then they would want to hire an attorney and fight the ticket and hope that the court will take the person’s word over the officer’s.

In the state of Pennsylvania, if a person has a Commercial Driving License (CDL) and gets stopped for a stop sign violation, how many points will they receive on their license?

If a person has a CDL and is pulled over for a stop sign violation, then the person risks a 3 point violation on his/her license. If the person was given a stop sign violation, then this would be considered a moving violation, making the points higher that are placed against the license.

When a person is driving and pulls up to a stop sign, they are expected by law to come to a full and complete stop and if they do not come to a full and complete stop, then the person will receive a stop sign violation. If a person receives a stop sign violation, they may have several questions regarding the laws and regulations of the stop sign violation. When these questions arise, then the person would need to seek the answers from an Expert.
