Do you need Expert instruction on how to replace a ball joint? Is a defective ball joint causing ABS problems? Do you need troubleshooting advice on ball joints? How to perform lower ball joint replacement in a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4x4?

To replace the lower ball joint (coil spring suspension), first raise the vehicle and support it properly and take out the tire and wheel assembly and the lower control arm. Ensure the lower control arm is properly secured in a bench vice or equivalent. Center punch the rivet heads and drill out the rivets. Remove the damaged lower Chevy ball joint from the vehicle. Now put the new ball joint into the lower control arm. Re-install the replacement bolts to the arm and tighten the nuts to the bolts. Take the lower control arm out from the bench vice and install it in the vehicle. Put back the tire and wheel assembly, remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle. Ensure the wheel alignment is as per specifications.

How to remove the upper Chevy ball joints in a 2002 Trailblazer?

Start by raising the vehicle and supporting it with jackstands. Remove the tire and wheel and unload the torsion bar. Take out the wheel speed sensor wiring harness bracket and brake hose bracket mounting bolt and nut from the upper control arm. Remove the cotter pin and take out the retaining nut on the upper ball joint. Place a pry bar below the upper control bar and above the top of the frame and pry upward. Take someone’s help to hammer carefully on the steering knuckle in the area of the upper ball joint stud. This will help release the stud from the steering knuckle. Disconnect the joint from the steering knuckle. Put a block below the upper control arm to keep it and the steering knuckle out of the way. Drill out the rivets from the upper ball joint using a 3.175 mm drill. Remove the upper ball joint and the nut from it.

What could be the problem with a 2002 S10 Crew Cab, with a newly replaced left lower ball joint, where the ABS light remains on?

If the light did not turn on before the ball joint repair work was done, then there could be a problem with the sensor mounting and wiring harness. This is because ABS systems can have trouble with wheel speed sensors. If on inspection it seems fine, then have the system scanned for codes. A class 2 scanner will be able to interface with the computer in the vehicle and retrieve the codes. Once the codes are obtained, an Expert will be able to help diagnose and repair the problem.

How to remove the housing that got stuck in the control arm while replacing the lower Chevrolet ball joint in a 1992 Caprice?

The procedure to remove it can be quite difficult. The lower control arm will need to be removed to the point where a hammer can be used to beat out the housing. A torch should not be used at all on chevy ball joints as they have grease and could explode. An Expert will be able to provide the right advice on how to deal with this problem. Repairing or replacing Chevrolet ball joints can be a difficult and long process. Therefore, it is recommended to get advice from Experts who will be able to provide the right information and answer any questions that may arise.
