In 2017 I was "let go" from my job of 40 yrs and two weeks
In 2017 I was "let go" from my job of 40 yrs and two weeks after my 60th birthday. In 2018 I received a settlement for $60,000, I also received unemployment, disability including a catch-up payment, an IRA withdrawal (to help with expenses while all this was going on) and a small amount of 1099 income ($5,000). All told about $125,000 (?). I ended up owing $11,300 in Federal taxes and $4,000 in state taxes. My only income in 2019 is a disability of $2,700. I talked with the IRS and they said they would accept $200 a month payments at 6% interest which is nuts. I have an IRA but if I take from that I will be shorting myself a few years down the road. Any suggestions? … read more
