A taxpayer puts their primary residence into a trust. The trust pays the mortgage payments and issues a 1098 with the EIN of the trust. Their estate planner attorney set it up this way. Anyway, wouldn't the trust have to have a return and then the beneficiaries be issued K1s for their prorata shares of the Trust's acitivities, even if it is just the taxpayer? Thank you.
