I file married filing separate and I claim my wife whose only income is social security can I claim her as an exemption plus my self?

If married filing separately, you can claim your spouse's exemption if your spouse had no gross income, isn't filing a return, and can't be claimed as a dependent on another taxpayer's return.

Her SSA benefits are income to her which would make you claiming her as an exemption not allowed.

It does not matter that she is not filing but that she has income.

Unfortunately with your spouse receiving income herself her exemption is not allowed to you if you file separately. I know this is something you do not want to hear.
