Customer Question

I was doing my tax report on Turbo Tax as I have done for several years
JA: What kind of computer do you have?
Customer: and came to a question I never had. It asked me what my husband (dead)
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: I did not finish the sentence....I am 81 so please give me time...
JA: Anything else you want the computer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: yes the question was : is your pension an RMD. All I know is that the pension is not an RMD. The next question does not make sense. Frankly I would prefer talking to someone on the telephone...is that possible?

Let me answer your question and if you still want a telephone consultation we can do that, but the site charges extra for that so let's make sure it is necessary.

Expert:  Stephen G. replied 2 months ago.

The RMD refers to a "required minimum distribution" which pertains to IRAs & 401-ks for example. So, if you have a regular pension from employment, or from you husband's employer, you would answer NO to any question that asks for that information.

Is there another question that you are having a question about?

Let me know.

Take your time, I'm not going anywhere.
