Customer Question

My wife and I did not pay our mortgages (primary and secondary) in 2015. Property taxes and insurances are included in the monthly mortgage payment for each property. Are property taxes still a tax deduction for us in 2015?

HelloThe property taxes are deductible if actually paid in 2015. If they were a part of the mortgage but not paid at all (the tax portion) then you cannot claim. If the real estate taxes were paid (even if by another person or entity) you can deduct them. You are required to click a positive rating if I am to be credited with the response. You have to actively click on a rating and click submit.
