Welcome to Just Answer. My name is ***** ***** I will be happy to assist you.

if you are self-employed, Social Security will assess whether your work is substantial gainful activity by using either the “Countable Income Test” or the “Three Tests.” Which test Social Security uses depends on whether your initial application is being evaluated or Social Security is reviewing your work activity after you’ve been receiving benefits.

The following link contains excellent information which you will find helpful:

http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/disability-benefits-the-self-employed.html

LLC and S corp is considered self-employment income. C corp is not considered self employment income.

Please let me know if you require further information or clarification. If so, please come back to me here, and I will be happy to assist you further. If not, please take a moment to rate my answer since that is the only way I receive credit for answering you and alerts Just Answer to compensate me for a portion of the fee you previously paid.

Thank you and best regards,

Barb

I am the owner of an S corp. I used to be the main sales
I am the owner of an S corp. I used to be the main sales person for the company. I was injured in 2010 . I am a paraplegic and I have extreme low back pain. I am set up now to "work" from home, which involves looking at reports, Some advertising decisions, answering questions for employees and occasionally calling customers etc. I have a disability insurance policy which required me to apply for SSDI. My attorney at the time said I was not required to report distributions, only my salary of approx $10,000/ year at the time. 3 years ago SSDI sent a work activity report. I contacted a different attorney to ask again about the distributions. I was told by them that I did not need to report it.SSDI just sent me another Work Activity report. Is it standard procedure for them to do this every 3 years? I am getting a little concerned and want to be sure that just reporting my salary of approx $13,000 is not going to cause any issues. The main reason I don't want to lose the SSDI is because of Medicare. Is it possible to not be on SSDI and still recieve Medicare because of my disability ? … read more
