Customer Question

My gross income from investments from Morgan Stanley is $6, 861. My social security is $19,200. Is the requirement for filing still $11,000 for investments excluding social security? I am 80 years old and am a widow.

No. You do not need to file a return for 2015. Actually the filing requirement for someone who is Single & over 65 is in excess of $11,700., without the Social Security so you are well within that requirement.
