If i donate a car to a non-profit and they give me a certificate

If i donate a car to a non-profit and they give me a certificate that says it is worth $3,500 and they in turn sell the car and only get $2,700, how much can i deduct from my taxable income for the donation?

You would be allowed the smaller of the FMV listed on th certificate or the actual sales price unless there is an exception.

There are 3 exceptions, if the organization used the vehicle first before saling it, or they made improvements to the vehicle, or they sold it to a needy person.
