can i file head of household with grand daughter as qualifing person?

Is your daughter filing single or head of household? If single, she cannot claim a dependant.

My apologies as I may have misunderstood your question. Your daughter may still claim a dependent even if filing as single. However, the same child may not be claimed twice for dependency purposes. If your daughter does not claim the child, and you provide over half of the child's support, you would be able to file HOH status and claim the child. Please let me know if you have further questions.
