can i claim my 34 year old son on my taxes , when he may own taxes, with out me losing any of my taxes

Hello crapser,


Since your son is over the age of 24, the only way you can claim him as a dependent is if all of the following rules can be met:


1. He does not have income of his own of more than $3,650 for the year.

2. You provide more than half of his support

3. He is not married filing a joint return with his spouse

4. He is not filing his own return and claiming himself as a dependent


If all of the above rules can be met, then you can claim your son as a dependent on your return.
