Did you have any income? If so, what type?

When did you adopt the children?

Customer: replied 7 years ago.
I had no income of my own just the adoption support of my children and I adopted them in July 2008
Expert:  TaxMomNJ replied 7 years ago.

If you have no income at all, there will be no benefit of claiming the children. In order to collect the child-related tax benefits (earned income credit, additional child tax credit), you must have earned income.
