can I deduct state estate tax on my federal tax return

Customer Question

My brother and I inherited money from our mother in Dec 05 and some of it was in a tax deffered annuity. We paid an Ohio estate tax and would think it's a deductible on our federal return?

Estate taxes are paid by estate and not deductible on your personal return.

The distribution from the tax deferred annuity would be taxable in the year the distribution take.
