Is my Washington State annual car license tab fee tax

Customer Question

Is my Washington State annual car license tab fee tax deductible? I need to know for years 2004, 2005 and 2006. I have a 1995 Toyota Corolla, and in June 2005 I paid $86.75. I know we are paying a tax (maybe $10/year?) for a monorail that was never built, but that's about all I know!

Dear Net nancy,

Only the portion of the car registration that is attributable to "personal property tax" is tax deductable. Other portions of the registration fee are not tax deductable.
