Hello my name is ***** ***** welcome to just answers! I will be assisting you with all of your vehicle questions today. Give me one moment while I review your question and come back with a answer. Please be aware I do not know your skill level or abilities so I will be asking a lot of questions and in a lot of cases we will respond to each other quite a lot before we find a solution. As far as phone calls are concerned that is the system prompting you, not me, and they do cost more money, I prefer text but in some cases a phone call is required. If I don’t answer right away or quickly in conversation I am helping another customer or have stepped out for a moment and will respond as soon as I can. Ok lets get started!

Ok check fuse sbf-2 in underhood location for power and continuity and fuse 16 in interior fuse panel for power and continuity

Ask Your Own Subaru Question
Customer reply replied 5 months ago
Fuse 16 under the dash is good. SBF2 under the hood also appears to be good. How would I go about checking continuity?
Subaru Mechanic: Mechanic01, ASE Certified Technician replied 5 months ago

pull the fuse out and check it with our ohms setting, but you have power on both sides your fine, so on your relay do you have any numbers on it ? or can you send a picture of the relay ?

Ask Your Own Subaru Question
Customer reply replied 5 months ago
You want a picture of the fuel pump relay?
Subaru Mechanic: Mechanic01, ASE Certified Technician replied 5 months ago

yeah I need to see what kind it is so I can tell you want to check on which terminal

Ask Your Own Subaru Question
Subaru Mechanic: Mechanic01, ASE Certified Technician replied 5 months ago

ok check this, 3 ground, 1 power, 2 power, with key on

Ask Your Own Subaru Question
Customer reply replied 5 months ago
Couldn't figure out which one correlated to the numbers but yellow with green strip has power with key off, yellow wire next to it has power with key on
Subaru Mechanic: Mechanic01, ASE Certified Technician replied 5 months ago

ok so you should be getting a grind from the light green black wire with key on

Ask Your Own Subaru Question
Customer reply replied 5 months ago
I don't appear to be getting a ground from the green/black wire
Subaru Mechanic: Mechanic01, ASE Certified Technician replied 5 months ago

ok thats your ecm signal from computer, do you have a security light on when trying to start?

Ask Your Own Subaru Question
Customer reply replied 5 months ago
Not that I can see
Subaru Mechanic: Mechanic01, ASE Certified Technician replied 5 months ago

you may have a bad ecm, next step is to check power and ground at ecm and if thats ok check the ground signal for the fuel pump, give me just 1 min while I find that information

Ask Your Own Subaru Question
Customer reply replied 5 months ago
I should also mention that the previous owner removed the keyless entry module, don't know if that would make a difference or not. The car does not have power locks or anything

Any other tests I can do before I pull the trigger on a replacement ECU? It has a new fuel pump relay and main relay.
Subaru Mechanic: Mechanic01, ASE Certified Technician replied 4 months ago

you can try pulling all the ecu connectors cleaning and checking everything and re grounding the vehicle at all the main grounds

Ask Your Own Subaru Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Okay. If I get a replacement ecm, is it just plug and play? Or does the new one have to be flashed to the car
Subaru Mechanic: Mechanic01, ASE Certified Technician replied 4 months ago

that is just a plug and play item,
