Clunking while turning at slow speed

Mechanic's Assistant: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on?

Sounds like the CV joints so I replaced both half shafts with newly remade shafts. Noise is still there.

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your Subaru?

12/98 Forester 2.0 litre Limited

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Forester yourself? What have you tried so far?

Yes I replaced the shafts myself. I wondered if this clunking is normal.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

I can't think what else would cause this.
