My 2000 Subaru gauge show that my car is overheating, but

Customer Question

My 2000 Subaru gauge show that my car is overheating, but does it intermittently as I'm driving
JA: Have you checked the coolant? Have you checked for a leak in the cooling system?
Customer: Looks like everything in the cooling system has been replaced
JA: What is the model of your '00 Subaru?
Customer: It's a Subaru Legacy Outback
JA: Are you fixing your Outback yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: We've replaced the coolant and "burped" the system
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Cannot use the air conditioning system or it overheats. Without the use of the air conditioner the gauge fluctuates between overheating to normal, intermittently as your driving.

Hello I will help,

Hate to tell you but your engine has the same problem most Subarus get eventually. The head gaskets are leaking combustion gasses into the cooling system superheating it. You will need to have the gaskets replaced if you want to continue to operate the engine.
