Hi im kevin there is no stipulation to change all four but a recommendation on Four-wheel drive and all-wheel drive vehicles as they are equipped with additional differentials and/or viscous couplings that are designed to allow momentary differences in wheel speeds when the vehicle turns a corner or temporarily spins a tire. However, if the differentials or viscous couplings are forced to operate 100% of the time because of mismatched tires, they can will experience excessive heat and wear .subaru dont set a point in which the tyres have to be worn before you cannot fit 1 new tyre .i would recommend at minimum they are fitted in pairs
