CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON SUBIE MECHANIC SAID VERY RARE PROBLEM,HED heard of but never experenced till now. paper work lost 09 outback
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: on with key stays on
JA: Are you fixing your Outback yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes I will repair myself if I can buy part,have done nothing yet

Customer: I believe its a electrical device,if so where is it located?

There are a number of reasons the Cruise will NOT work "if" the Check Engine Light is ON
You need to Scan the Vehicle for "ALL" Trouble Codes to help pinpoint the cause
Many Auto Parts Stores will Scan for FREE
Surprised the Subaru Dealer did not supply a copy for you "if" they Scanned the Vehicle
They should have a copy also
Once you know the Trouble Codes, usually it will explain the part or problem
IF NOT, Post them back here & I will have a look
