I have a 2017 Legacy Premium 2.5. After sitting overnight

Customer Question

I have a 2017 Legacy Premium 2.5. After sitting overnight and starting it, there is a loud rattling sounds that goes away shortly. Is this from the timing chain/thin oil draining off or do I have an oil filter with a defective drain back valve? I have been told this is normal by service manager - true or BS? Thanks, TSW
JA: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on?
Customer: Coming from engine - front of engine - Noise there from purchase - 1,300 miles from new.
JA: What year is your Legacy?
Customer: 2017
JA: Are you fixing your Legacy yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I have done nothing the car is new
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no

Hi,of course this is not normal,it's possible a chain tensioner leaks down overnight and causes additional deflection in the chain and the rattle,I think you should have the service manager start a new 2017 that has been sitting on the lot to prove your point, because I cannot hear the noise your speaking of the compasion between 2 like vehicles would be the best place to start, thanks for your time.
