I have a 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback. The alarm started going

Customer Question

Hi Mike, I have a 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback. The alarm started going off and I was not about to turn it off. Also I could not turn the car on (i.e., the starter will not engage. The red security light is flashing. A mechanic was able to help jump the starter and I was able to drive home, but now I cannot start it again. I have a keyless entry system. What to I need to do to reset the system so I can get the starter to engage? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
JA: Does the light flash, blink or stay solid? Have you tried to reset the security system?
Customer: The light is flashing.
JA: Are you fixing your Outback yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I am trying to fix it myself since I can't drive it as is. I tested the battery and am getting about 12.5 V. I put the key in the ignition and have cycled the on-off several times. I have tried using the remote entry button (on-off) several times.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Just that it appears the security system has shut off my car so it won't start.

Is this a Factory Alarm or Aftermarket
IF Aftermarket what is the Brand & Model Number
IF you are not sure, can you post a picture of your Remote?
