No need to panic, the light is suppose to flash any time the keys are out of the car. If it's a push button start then when the key fob is out then the light will flash. This is suppose to be a theft deterrent and will be there even if the car isn't locked. If it's on when the car is running, it's a problem, otherwise it's not a problem. It's a tiny LED light and uses almost no power. It won't run the battery down unless the car sits for weeks.
Your owners manual will confirm this for you.
