Mike says the cams may be out of wack. Can I check that myself. Do I need a tool?

Hi. You do not need a special tool to check the cams. You need to remove the timing belt covers and spin the engine over and make sure all 3 of the marks, 1 on each cam and one in the center gear are all pointed straight up and aligned. If they are, then the cams are timed correctly.
