Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

That would depend on what you're actually experiencing and exactly what the powertrain is. If it's electronic throttle control and is going into electronic throttle control limp in then it could be a perceived vacuum leak or intake restriction, an issue with the throttle body or accelerator pedal position sensor.

If the engine is just derating power it could be a cam or crank signal issue or incorrect cam timing.

If the trans is what is going into limp in it could be an internal trans issue, speed sensors, solenoids, wiring, or the trans controller itself.

The first step in diagnosing the problem will be to see what fault codes are setting. If the engine or trans are going into limp in it's because a problem is being seen and a fault code is setting.
