Subaru Outback 2.5I Limited: my OIL TEMP light came on and

Customer Question

my OIL TEMP light came on and the car stuttered and acted like it wouldn't go. I just turned off the engine and left it. Do I add transmission fluid? How do I check it?

Hi,thanks for your question.Hi ,this vehicle has a CVT transmission which takes special fluid ,it has no dipstick, the fluid must be checked with vehicle transmission at a certain temperature ,this is not a DYI dream job .The ATtemp light usually means a circuit or solenoid malfunction ,but your first instinct is correct the fluid should be checked first but in your situation if you see no transmission leaks it should be full. The light flashing could be numerous things ,but because it felt like it wouldn't move I 'm guessing the secondary pressure circuit may be at fault I would not drive the vehicle because internal damage may occur if it hasn't already, thanks for your time.
