Hello, based on what you have stated above, everything has been checked and nothing found.
That being said, I suspect that you may have very small seepage that is not evident enough to be visible to Pep Boys but may be burning off on the motor before the leak shows any visible traces. Which may explain the vapors and excessive heat you are noticing.
This surely can escalate if left uncorrected. I strongly recommend a qualified Subaru dealer check your car, they know your car much better than a Pep Boys and a second opinion is always a good thing if you're not satisfied with the original "no problem found" outcome from P.B.
You may just have a loose hose clamp or a detective gasket but, if there is an issue, the dealer will find it.
