First off, I'm planning a living space above a hangar floor.
I'm planning a living space above a hangar floor. Hangar will be a pre-engineered metal building. I want to suspend an i-beam from the major steel beams that support the roof. I want the i-beam 12 from the side wall. I want to put trusses from the sidewall structure out to the suspended i-beam with a 3 foot cantilever for a total floor of 15 feet. The major beams will be 25 feet apart. I will coordinate with the steel building company to size the structure to support the suspended i-beam and live loads of estimated 55 psf. There will be three of these "bays" each 25 feet. So living space will be three bays of 15'x25'. The ends of i-beam will be supported from the ground. The middle two supports will be from the structural steel above. … read more
