First off, slap that electrician and tell him if I ever see him doing that again, I'm going to drive out there from NY and slap him myself. Drilling through floor joists is one thing, but drilling through a 16" deep glulam beam is just negligence.

Second, I don't think you need to install any new columns. I would actually advice against that because by adding them you could distribute vertical loads to different areas of your floor that were designed to carry them.

Instead, I would recommned installing metal plates to the glulam beam around the drilled holes.

You could also use Simpson 1" strap ties. If you are not able to get the strap ties to the underside of the beam, then you can install Simpson Tie-Plates on either side of the face of the Glulam so the bottom chord of the beam will be able to transfer tension around the holes.

Yes, that what my understanding. The link I sent would be installed on the bottom face of the Glulam.

The photo I sent is convey that the steel plating would be installed around the holes. This will distribute the load around the opening they drilled.
