I am redesigning a home remodel. I am looking to clear span
I am redesigning a home remodel. I am looking to clear span the 1st floor ceiling/ 2nd floor. The span of floor joist are 15'5”. I am looking to remove an interior partion between a kitchen and dinning room and have an open floor plan. The length of a beam would be 25'5”. I am open to having two separate beams spaced 5' on center to span the 25'5”. Or possibly splitting the 25'5” span to 15' on one side and 10'5” of the other. Doing it this way would create on large beam spanning 15'5” with the floor joist and having the the actual beams coming in contact with the floor joist being 15' and 10'5”. I was wondering what sizes would be needed to span these distances. … read more
