Customer Question

i'm building a carport in california (no snow). I am using 8x8 cedar or fir posts 22feet apart. I want a wood beam to span the posts plus an extra foot on each side. There will be joists every 40" or so. Can I use a 8x8x 24 foot cedar or fir beam to span? The rafters will hold solar panels only.
