I have a Cape Dory Typhoon Weekender sailboat that is 18'6"

Customer Question

I have a Cape Dory Typhoon Weekender sailboat that is 18'6" in length, 6'3" in beam and weighs 2000lbs. In order to sand and paint the bottom of the boat I am thinking about using the lifting eye embedded in the keel (in the cabin sole) to suspend the boat from an overhead beam supported by posts on either end. The south post would be connected to the existing exterior wall framing,
JA: OK. Is there anything else important you think the Structural Engineer should know?
Customer: The north post would be set in a Simpson post base bolted to the 4" concrete slab.

I was unaware that this service was $36.00/month so I didn't follow thru. I just checked my PayPal site and see that I was charged for the month now so let's get the engineering done...I'll put a drawing together and scan it/send it to you. Paul
