Customer Question

We have a 200 year old Philadelphia Center City rowhouse and share a common wall with our neighbor.
Our neighbor is doing construction next door.He is excavating basement floor 2 feet deeper than original.
Would it be necessary to reinforce our foundation/wall?

This would depend on the condition and construction of the basement wall. There is a good chance that the wall would need to be reinforced as many old rubble stone foundation walls are in very poor condition. Also, that depth of excavation may require underpinning of the footing.
