Do you need to clear span 40' between supports with this channel?

There will also be diagonal supports using 2 inch channel so the unsupported length is actually around 30 feet

That's not really possible. You need an 18" or 21" I beam, not a 6" channel

Even with a 30' span you need a W14 to W16, not a 6" channel
