Customer Question

I have a galley kitchen that I want to open the wall to the dining room for
a open span of 16ft. This wall is 7ft from the outside wall and the next inside wall is
10 ft,. from the dininig room to living room wall.
The existing walls use 2x4 studs (16" on center) to support the joists of a light flat hot rolled roof .
I was thinking of using 4x4 columns (as support columns) to support the beam across the 16ft span and make the beam a double (2x10).across the 16ft span to support light flat roof joists above.

Can you take a look at the following link and answer the questions at the bottom of the sheet? Your answers will allow me to accurately model the loading and size your beam. Thanks
