Looking to split the load of a single lally across two

negative. 6x8 beam, two section, 20' and 16', bridged with 4" lally's every 6' or soThe column I want to move (by bridging to two columns) happens to be under the butt-splice of the beam. I want to transfer the load 3' left and right to create a clear walkout from the basement mechanicals to the access hatch

x is a lally columnFrom west to east, the 4th x is where two separate pieces of 6x8 lumber butt together to form a discontiguous 36' beam. We'll call that point A. The beam runs 20' west from Point A and 15' east from Point A.All joists run north to south. All joists sit on top of the beam and are 2x6. Length of joists is roughly equal at 15', north and south, with only slight variation. This is consistent between the first floor floordeck and ceiling joists. The beam only carries the first floor.Balloon frame house. This means the outside walls carry the entire vertical load of the roof. Attic is supported in an A-frame fashion, with no supports or tiebacks to the ceiling joists, only between the roof rafters themselves.Ceiling joists act to keep the walls from pushing out, translating the horizontal vector of the load of the roof to a horizontal opposing force. The central wall on the first floor of the house supports the ceiling joists.First floor materials consist of 3/4" sheathing with 1" wood floors over 95% of the surface area. Ceramic tile is only in the bathroom, to the north-east side of the beam. Future renovation may add an additional contiguous 20% area of ceramic tile, in the kitchen to the south-east of the beam.I want to place a 6' long, 3/8" thick piece of U channel steel under Point A, cradling the wood beam. This is in order to remove the lally column at Point A and install 2 new columns, one 3' east and one 3' west of Point A, supporting the U channel steel.I should just be halving the load at Point A and spreading it across the two new columns, while increasing the rigidity of the butt joint beam at Point A.Ignore the 'A' under the original diagram....it moved.
