What pattern of drilling holes /4 PEX pipe should I use

Customer Question

What pattern of drilling holes for 3/4 PEX pipe should I use for drilling through 8 " floor joists, in a basement and 1st floor re-plumbing operatwion, when I am running water lines through the joists, to get from one end of house to the other. I have read elsewhere not to drill any holes in the bottom 1/2 of joists. Could I alternate drill holes at 2" and 4" from top of joist, on an 8" joist, offsetting the holes so they do not line up, one directly above the other. (SAy, offset by 2-3 ")
