I have a porch roof attached to my house and at the outside

Customer Question

I have a porch roof attached to my house and at the outside end I want to put a 30 foot metal beam to eliminate the posts in the middle. Will a 4x8 inch beam hold a roof that is 10fot long (attached one long side to the house) and is 3/4 plywood with tar and gravel? If that is too much what about a metal roof with trusses?

Well I guess I can wait a couple of hours.

Your couple hours must be Caribbean time...where every thing is slow go.
Where'd you go?

I apologize for the delay.

What is the city and state so I can look at snow loading?

An 8" beam won't span 30', but I can size the I beam for you.
