How were rivets used and applied rivets in bridge steel

Customer Question

Rivets were traditionally used to join metal together before the time of welding was prevalent.

Rivets are cylinders of mild steel with forged heads, one formed in the factory and one formed in the field on the hot rivet. When the rivet cools, it shrinks and creates a clamping force.
