Customer Question

I am wondering if I can move a basement support beam. Making sure it is possible and affordable before I call an engineer. I have an 8 inch by 4 inch steel beam with a pole in the middle. This is supporting one floor above it. I am wondering if I move my supports to the sides of the beams and Jane two instead of one if I would be fine.

Do you want to move the beam or the posts that support it?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I want to move the post. I do not mind having multiple beams on both sides of the opening. I was hoping to having a 6 foot opening in the middle. I was planing on putting 2 posts on each side of the beam
