Structural. Hoping I can get some help for my house. I plan
Hoping I can get some help for my house. I plan on doing the work this weekend so idk can get a response by end of week that would be greatly appreciated The floor joists (2x8) on the left hand side on my house are in very good condition, but they are over-spanned. - the joists on the LHS are 12'10” from the sill plate to the steel beam and sag quite a bit (see below) The joists on the RHS are 11'4” from the sill plate to the steel beam and sag a consistent 1/4” (which seems normal to me) - the sill plate and steel beam are perfectly level. I was wondering if the following solution would work, taking into account the whole floor will receive hardwood Ripping 11 7/8s lvl in half and sistering the sagged joists after jacking them level. - that would mean a 5 15/16 lvl screwed onto one side of the 2x8 joists. - what would be my screw pattern here? - would I be using sds screws? - would I have to glue the lvl to the 2x8 joists? - would I have to do the whole floor or just the LHS that is sagging that much. Thank you in advance … read more
