I have a question for a soils engineer. I am in the
I am in the beginning stage of having an inground fiberglass pool installed in my yard. I have limited space so the size pool I'm looking at is 91/2 ft x191/2 ft and 5ft 4in at the deepest point. I have a wood retaining wall 3ft high and would like to set the pool with the long edge of the pool as close to the wall as possible. I was hoping not much further than 3 1/2 ft away. The County planning department says for surcharge loads, draw a 45 degree angle 1:1 from the retaining wall footing and if this intersects the pool shell then there is a surcharge.
