I have a questions about foundation cracks. I have a
I have a basement with brick walls. there is water that comes in through the walls when there is a heavy rain. i have had several waterproofing companies come look at the basement and they all suggest an interior french drain system with a sump pump. I understand that this will keep the water from sitting in the basement, but i don't see how this relieves the pressure on the wall that has the crack. the water is still pushing on the wall and going through the wall it is just then collected in the french drain. my questions is, can the structural concerns be addressed without waterproofing? … read more
