I don't put any stock in the span tables. They're fairly generic in nature and don't consider things that need special attention to things like deflection.

So this will support a roof only and no attic or floor?

Is the ridge of teh rafters a ridge beam or ridge board?

That span is generally taken as cener of bearing to center of bearing, but a few inches will not have a significant impact on size.

Deflection is how much teh beam sags when loaded.

A ridge beam is a real structural element that vertically supports the rafters. A ridge board is generally a single 2x10 or 2x12 taht is really in place just to give something to nail the rafters to.

A rafter is the sloped roof member at 16" or 24" on center.

Your span would be 74.5"

Sharon is a 35 psf snow load area.

Is the 9' dimension or teh 28' dimension perpendicular to teh beam span?

i WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND MAKING SURE THE WHOLE THING IS OK WITH A SITE VISIT. i OFTEN SEE CATHEDRAL OR MONOSLOPE CEILINGS THAT CRACK A LOT BECAUSE TEH BUILDING DIDN'T INSTALL TIES OR RIDGE BEAMS AS APPROPRIATE FOR THE CONDITIONS.

Under thos conditions, two plies (3.5" wide total) or 7.25" deep LVL beams will work with a minimum E of 1900 ksi and a minimum Fb of 2600 psi.

As noted above, I would recommend having an engineer visit to make sure the beam doesn't need to be design for lateral thrust from the rafters, too.

I'm not sure what you mean about the building width.

I don't use tables. They try to cover too many scenarios at once.

ThThe original question didn't mention anything about calculations. That's way above a medium level of detail.

It makes a difference in your cost and what the expert gets credited.

It's definitely showing as a medium level. But calculations are above even a high level of detail. I generally don't provide calculations, but have in specific cases.

I can send you a chart for LVL beams, but like I said, they aren't teh easiest thing to read for a layman and are general in nature.

It also doesn't give a direct comparison between an LVL and a piece of dimension lumber.
