Customer: Hi. Drawings just show the 2 beams meeting at the corner and sitting on a telepost. I am assuming the smaller beam must be connected with a hanger. The gentleman that did the drawing is away so I can't contact him. Thanks darrell

Yes, you can use joist hangers for this application, but to select the correct hanger, you really need the reaction(s) from the smaller beam into the bigger beam.

Customer: It is a two story addition. 21 x 23 ft. And sorry both beams are 4 ply not 3 as I mentioned before. The 2 x 10 runs the 21 foot length and supports the end of the 2 x 8 joist. There is a LVL beam at the 11 1/2 ft point supporting joist at midway point. The 2 x 8 beam runs the 23 ft. Length and will have the end of the 21 ft roof trusses above it. So 2 x 10 supports 2 story floor load and 2 x 8 supports trusses. The 2 x 8 beams has teleposts every 5.75 ft. The 2 x 10 has telepost every 4.2 ft. Hope this helps. Darrell
