I am a South African from Johannesburg. I sold my house in
I am a South African from Johannesburg. I sold my house in 2015 to a nigerian. The nigerian representative signed with the attorneys for the transfer of the house, on behalf of the new owner and his mother, as he signed that he was authorised by the Nigerian owner and his mother to do so. The nigerian representative stated that the new owner would not be interested in staying in the house , and we then reached a verbal agreement to stay on in the house for 4 years at R 8 333. We paid the Nigerian representative the R400 000 upfront for this via forex into his Nigerian bank account stating the reason as accommodation - Nigeria, and we have the proof of the payment of R400 000. Now the nigerian owner wants to sell the house and our rental period has not yet expired. We cannot move now as we don't have the money to move. We also have a 5 year old grandchild living with us, to top it all. The Nigerian owner says that he does not know about this arrangement with his representative, and we must move immediately - not even any notice. About the Nigerian owner: His mother, Mrs Olejeme was the chairman of the NSITF (Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund). According to the internet, the lady allegedly stole 68 billion Naira from the NSITF and the there is a warrant out for her arrest. The EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) has secured a court order for her arrest) This lady transferred money from her bank account in Nigeria at the time, to pay for the house and register it on her son's name. She is in South Africa and according to the internet, has married a South African so that she can do business in South Africa. Also the rates and taxes are in arrears on the house. We know someone that knows where the Olejeme woman is now residing in Johannesburg, South Africa. Apparently she has bought a property in Sandhurst, Johannesburg. What do you suggest we do? … read more
