XXXXX XXXXX who is an...

XXXXX XXXXX who is an American Citizen & Benjamin Kanu were being held for hitting a security guard. I paid the Security Guards hospital bill in the amount of $1300 and he signed off for the release of my friends. Then the cops wanted $1300. total bail money for the two. I do not have that money at the present time. They have allowed me to talk to Dennis almost on a daily basis and sometimes twice a day in order to discuss various ways that I could obtain the money for their release; however, as of Saturday, Feb. 12 they no longer allow us to talk and each and every time I call, the cops hang up. Doesn't Dennis have rights in Accra, Ghana to speak to me? We need to be able to talk in order to find a legal way to get them out of jail. Please advise, Mike Horn

I'm afraid that I have to concur with the experts who answered your previous two questions. This is most definitely a scam. Now that you have paid an initial payment and have not made any further payments, the perpetrators of this scam are no longer interested in speaking you you. By now, they are probably focusing their attentions on their next victim.

I have had the discussion with XXXXX XXXXX re your opinion that he is a scammer. Prior to my conversation with you he and I discussed his occupation fully. He is a Reseller of diamonds. He buys them at a low price and sells them at a higher price. He is not the one cutting me off or out, it is the cops. I do not know why you have a hard time in accepting this info, but obviously you do. Please refer me to darendb because I do not accept your answer. Furthermore, you did not answer my question.

Hallo Mike,

I've seen the answer from the previous expert and I wish to add that the reason we think it is a scam, is because we this kind of thing happening every day. You are emotionally involved and does not want to believe it is a scam. As far as your discussions with XXXXX XXXXX are concerned, a reseller of diamonds is a very shady business and mostly likely he is involved with blood diamonds. If he is a scammer, there is no way that he will admit to it. If, after all that I've said, you are still convinced that he is genuine, then you have to renew your efforts at Amnesty International and maybe contact the United Nations as well. Apart from that there nothing one can do.

Hello Barend,

Yes, you are right, I am emotionally involved. That said, I still believe him. When we first met, he told me he dealt in buying & selling diamonds and he has never lied to me as for as I know. I had another conversation with him yesterday about him being a scammer and he emphatically said "no" I am not a scammer. He can not understand why everyone thinks that except me, and I told him that they do not know you and you are in the region of the world where everyone is a scammer. I do not know about blood diamonds and I do not think that I want to know anything about them. We all have jobs to do and if that is his profession, I am not the one to judge him. That said, I accept your answer because you answered my question and with style. Thank You, Mike

Hello Barend,

You suggested that I contact someone at the United Nations in New York. Who would be a likely source for me to contact. The UN is huge and I have no idea as to who to ask for concerning this problem. Please make a suggestion of some sort.

Hello Barend,

I strictly want your help, no one else. I did contact the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on Friday. Due to policy, they do not give their names. The person that I spoke to was going to send me a form to be completed by You. I never received it as it was supposed to have been sent to me by email. My question is: Can you request the form and complete it for the High Commissioner for Human Rights? The last time that XXXXX XXXXX and I spoke which was 3-4 days ago, he informed me that the police was not letting him talk to me online and I have called the police department multiple times each day (approximately 20+ times per day) and they either hang up on me or play loud music which prevents me from talking to them. Isn't this a definite Human Rights issue that needs to be corrected? I was contacted last night by a Security Guard at Dennis's request to let me know he was sick and at the clinic. The only reason they are holding him is for a bail fee which they apparently have now increased. All I want is for XXXXX XXXXX to be released. As a result of the action of the police department, is a law suit against them feasible? Again, I look forward to your response and what charges may be involved. To let you know, I have been unemployed for almost 2 years now due to the US economy so I need to watch my limited funds cautiously. Thanks for your continued help and support.

I can't think of any reason why I have to sign a form from the Commissioner for Human Rights. I have no direct knowledge of the facts of the matter. I can't complete the form on your behalf because that is beyond the function of this forum. You will need to contact a lawyer near you to do that, but I still don't know why it would be necessary. Just keep persisting with your efforts...at some time you will get a breakthrough...
