Just off of the top of my head, and with the greatest of respect, I really think that what you have just explained above is a total scam.
The story sounds so unlikely and full of thinks that just could not be, that my only logical reply to this is that it is a scam.
Please Please Please ensure that you protect your assets!
Most of these scams are designed to get you to believe something, and then they give you a reason why it has not happened, and then explain that you need to pay some money in order to fix it.
WHY?
Think about these questions for me:
1) Does your soon-to-be wife live in Ghana?
2) Is she a citizen of Ghana, or South Africa? You say that she is a US citizen, how then did she acquire citizenship?
3) Have you ever met your soon-to-be wife?
4) Why was she detained by the British Embassy if she is NOT british? The Embassy could not detain her. She is allegedly a US citizen?
5) Her family does not give her dowry, it is the man that must pay dowry to the soon-to-be wife's family. Did you pay dowry to her dad? Why is he giving her gold bar dowry to give to you? It makes no sense!
6) Did the Embassy contact you? Or did you contact them? Did you get their telephone number from an email that they sent you, or did you get it from their official website?
There are soo many problems in your story, and I have heard of these stories over and over and over from soo many people.
I know that this is not what you want to hear, but I really think that this is a total scam!
Please talk to the British Embassy in the US, speak to the US Embassy, speak to Dept of Homeland security, or your police station, or something.
Ask her to send you a copy of her US passport - if she is a US citizen. GET IT VERIFIED.
By assisting her into the country and by marrying her so that she can get her green card, or whatever, you could very well be assisting in the commission of a crime.
You could go to jail yourself!!!!
Please think about this, it seems way to good to be true!!!!!
